Clouds without Water

My seminar, Clouds Without Water, is taken from a reference in the book of Jude 12 to false teachers. Specifically, Clouds Without Water is a biblical critique of the Word-Faith/New Apostolic Reformation/Prosperity gospel. The prosperity gospel essentially holds that it is always God’s will for a Christian to be wealthy and always God’s will for a Christian to be physically healed. If we struggle financially or get sick, then prosperity and physical healing are guaranteed provided that we have enough faith or sow a seed (give money) to a preacher in order to reap a harvest.

Prosperity theology dominates what we see on “Christian” television such as TBN, Daystar, The Word Network and others. Word-Faith/NAR theology, however, is not just an emphasis on health and wealth. It is actually rooted in the metaphysical cults and has a very heretical view of God, Christ, the Atonement, and it deifies man. Clouds Without Water incorporates dozens of video clips of prominent prosperity preachers such as Benny Hinn, Joseph Prince, Creflo Dollar, Bill Johnson, Andrew Wommack, Joyce Meyer, Todd White and Joel Osteen, and so you will see for yourself what they actually teach. The error is then corrected point by point from scripture.

This movement, tragically, is the face of Christianity around the world and it is leading untold millions of people into a different gospel – and a different gospel does not save. It is not only my desire to expose the error but also to equip the saints to “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15) with the aim of rescuing people out of this dangerous deception.

  1. Justin, so glad to have discovered another brother who upholds the tenets of inerrancy, the absolute sufficiency of Scripture in all matters of faith and practice and developing a deep love for our Savior. After retiring from the USAF as an F-16 fighter pilot I attended 3 seminaries (Faith Evangelical, NW Baptist, and DTS), receiving 2 Masters degrees in business and Christian ministry. I enjoyed the biblical languages to such a degree that I furthered my Education to receive a DMin in Semantic languages.

As a boy I was raised in Jack MacArthur’s church and knew Johnny only briefly when he was going through a kind of renegade phase 🙂 But what an inspirational man of God he has become. Aside, I can’t say I felt a strong call on my life for the pulpit, but leading a Bible Study group for 25+ years was impetus enough (as well as teaching biblical Hebrew at Faith Seminary).

Now for you, both my son and I have renewed our studies (he in a Reformed Baptist seminary back east and I as above) in large part due to your ministry. Apologetics has always been my love and appreciate how faithful you are to the work. Trust me when I say I truly appreciate the very hard work you put into this problem in the so-called evangelical community today. We pray for you that Satan is pressed hard to stay out of the way where the salvation message is being preached, advocated, and adored.

May God continue to bless you, your wife and your ministry together. We pray for her strength as well. As they rightly say, “Behind (better besides) every good man is an excellent woman!” Keep up the sterling work and may the nay-sayers find a new hobby! Jesus loves you in unfathomable ways. Amen.

  2. I have really enjoyed your excellent Bible teaching. Keep up the good work of the LORD.
